Pressing for Progress 2019 was a first-of-its kind national conference towards gender equity in physics in India. In the conference, both physics-related and sociology of physics-related topics were deliberated upon. The conference was intended to serve as a forum wherein physicists, Masters level and up, would draw inspiration from keynote talks by eminent women physicists, have an opportunity to present their research in multiple sub-disciplines, and deliberate on ways of promoting gender equity in physics including participation in immersive, interactive workshops.
The conference was open to people of all genders, physicists as well as others engaged in the issue of gender equity in science, based on the merit of the application to the conference. Submission of abstract(s) on physics research and/or on topics related to promoting gender equity in physics was encouraged.
The conference was the second major event of the Gender in Physics Working Group of the Indian Physics Association
